PRAY FOR EVERYONE

We've heard it before, but, we can ask ourselves, and not the neighbor
the question. Have we basically taken this call to heart wholeheartedly?
Paul says i.1. Tim. 2: 1-3.
First of all, I exhort to offer prayer, invocation, intercession and thanksgiving
to all people, to kings and all in high positions, so that we may live a calm
and quiet life, godly and decent in every way. This is good and pleasing to God
our Savior. Did you see what it sows as the very first admonition to us? We
must pray for all people. We do it. Are we who believe in Jesus not inclined to
pray for ourselves first. Do we not forget the calling of our prayer, which is
for all men?
We are therefore encouraged to pray for all people, for neighbors and
friends, and not least for our Queen and all in high positions. Let us pray for
the members of our government that God may be allowed to have His way with
them, or that He will remove them from their positions if they will not repent
to Him.
Why do we not pray as we have been taught?
The prayer of faith both saves and heals. Where have the prayers of the
Christian faith gone? We have had a myriad of prayer campaigns and
international days of prayer where we pray for a special topic. But, is that
what we need? Shouldn't we pray for everyone whether they are believers or not?
On a day of prayer, Christians from all parts of the world unite before the
throne of grace in prayer for God's intervention in peoples and nations. Which
is also good enough, but what about our personal prayer life where we pray for
everyone in faith?
When you start praying for everyone, even those you do not like, you
will quickly find out if you love them. When you pray you think of others and
think and pray if you can do something for them then you start showing love in
your deeds.
I Matt. 7: 7 and 26:41 Jesus has commanded us to pray. Jesus wants us to
agree to pray together for the same thing in faith, then he will hear our
prayer and give us what we ask for. He will be in the midst of us as we gather
around His name (Matt. 18: 19-20). But, can we honestly, without hypocrisy, be
together in Jesus if we do not agree in love? And does Jesus like it when we
say we stand together in prayer and yet do not?
Let us therefore boldly step before the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy, and find grace and help in time. Heb. 4.16.
Can we boldly stand before the throne of God if we are not all in the
life of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, under constant prayer in thanksgiving and
the prayers of faith for all?
Amen.
